TMTPOST — RoboSense, a global leader in LiDAR technology, showcased its latest innovation, the Active Camera platform, at the 2025 World Robot Conference (WRC) held from August 8 to 12 in Beijing. This new product category aims to redefine robotic vision by integrating multi-sensor data into a single, high-performance system.
Traditionally known for providing LiDAR solutions to the automotive industry, RoboSense holds the top global market share in automotive LiDAR, supplying core components to over 310 automakers and Tier 1 suppliers worldwide. With the rapid growth of new energy vehicles, many advanced automotive components—such as motors, electronic controls, and batteries—have become increasingly miniaturized and efficient, offering significant reuse potential in robotics.
“We’re seeing a natural synergy between automotive and robotics technologies,” said Wang Guangxi, partner at Lenovo Capital. “The evolution of EV components is directly enabling advancements in humanoid robots.”
At this year’s WRC, RoboSense unveiled its "True Robotic Eye" series, powered by the Active Camera platform. This system combines color, depth, and motion sensing capabilities in one device, overcoming traditional 3D vision challenges like limited visibility, low accuracy, and latency. Following the launch of its initial product, AC1, in March, RoboSense plans to roll out the enhanced AC2 model later this year.
Financial data underscores the company’s rapid growth in robotics applications. RoboSense sold approximately 11,900 LiDAR units for robotics in Q1 2025 — a 183% increase year-over-year — generating revenue of 73.4 million yuan, up 87% from the previous year.
RoboSense also introduced its AI-Ready ecosystem, designed to accelerate innovation and commercialization for Active Camera developers. The platform offers open-source tools, AI algorithms, reference cases, and datasets, fostering collaboration among AI developers and scenario specialists.
“We want to create an open, thriving ecosystem where developers can quickly prototype and deploy robotic applications,” said Qiu Chunchao, RoboSense CEO. The company has already partnered with leading robotics firms including Dobot, Unitree Robotics, Pudu Robotics, and multiple humanoid robot innovation centers.
Beyond robotic vision, RoboSense is expanding into embodied intelligence solutions, releasing dexterous robotic hands that emphasize hand-eye coordination and mobility, targeting a broad range of industrial applications.
Qiu emphasized the enormous potential of humanoid robots, projecting a market size that could be ten times larger than the automotive sector. “Currently, humanoid robots are mainly in the R&D phase, showcasing capabilities and exploring use cases. We expect a shift towards specialized applications where these robots can fully realize their value,” he said.
As robotics technology continues to advance rapidly, RoboSense is positioning itself at the forefront of the industry’s next wave of innovation.
